High School Reach
The
HS Reach ministry provides activities and growth opportunities for
students in grades 9-12. This involves regular meetings, Sunday
school, summer camp, special events and mission trips.
Weekly Meetings
Our weekly meeting takes place from 6:30-8:15
PM Sunday evenings at the church. We do offer snacks and
social time for students who come early (6:10-6:30). We try to keep
the format uncluttered so we can focus most of all on God. Games
start at 6:30 sharp, followed by some announcements, and then worship
begins. Our worship begins with singing the groups favorite praise
songs. A time of prayer bridges the singing in to the weeks lesson
which is always interactive, challenging the youth and incorporating
the principles of scripture to everyday high school and family life.
This is a time to grow closer to one another while gaining a better
idea of knowing God, and living life for Him.
Donut Group
Meets Sunday Mornings
at 9:30 as the “Sunday School” of the Sr. High.
Run as more of a discussion group on hot topics and Biblical issues,
this meeting is sure to fill the youth up, in more ways than one.
An array of breakfast items are available (usually donuts and juice).
For those wishing to partake, $1 is appreciated to cover the cost
of the food.
Harvey Cedars Summer Camp
For
Thirteen years and running, the High School group has traveled down
to Long Beach Island, NJ for a one of a kind summer camp experience
at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference. With a campus on the bay, a short
walk to the ocean, rockin’ and spirited chapel sessions complete
with the latest music and attention grabbing speakers, this camp
has touched the hearts of hundreds of kids over our thirteen year
participation. With such hype and such positive stories, this event
is almost known community wide. Usually taking place the second
week of July we gear up early with sign-ups taking place during
late winter. Come on sign-up day, because spots go FAST!
Mission Trips
Powerful, life-changing mission trips have been
a long standing tradition and commitment by the youth ministry of
the church. In the past, trips to West Virginia, Camden, NJ, North
Philadelphia, the Bowery mission in Manhattan and various areas
of Mexico have deeply moved our students and all of those involved.
Though mission trips can be the most fun, memory- making events
of a teen’s life, it takes a serious commitment and a huge
effort on the part of everyone involved, often preparing for six
months or more before the trip. The trips usually take place in
the summer, and require a solid commitment sometime during January
or before, depending on the trip.
