Meetings
Formerly known just as “Youth Group”
this meetings take place Wednesday
evenings during the school year. From 7:30-9:05
PM at the church, the group will meet parallel to the Wednesday
night worship service making it convenient for parent and student
to come at the same time! Students will start upstairs in the sanctuary
to sing along with the rockin’ praise band then move downstairs
for some fun (hanging, games) and a brief lesson, applying Biblical
principals to life in school and family.
Fall Fridays (Fun Fridays)
As the Middle School age usually has less going
on after school than a typical High School student might, this will
be one of the top priority programs for the MS. Being conveniently
located directly across the street from both the New Fairfield Middle
and High School, Pastor Joe’s house makes the perfect meeting
place for a regular after school gathering. The kids could walk
in about 5 minutes (most of that time would be on the school grounds!)
and play the afternoon away in Pastor Joe’s large yard or
in his cozy living room. Of course snacks will be provided. Check
with Pastor Joe and the newsletter for days and details which change
from season to season. We’ll try to have an after school gathering
once a month.
Sunday School
An excellent Sunday School class is in place
for the MS to go in depth of what the Bible is all about. Sunday
school meets on Sunday mornings at
9:30 in our specially designed room downstairs, complete
with chalk board paint (Pastor Joe loves that stuff!). You never
thought Sunday morning’s could be this fun!
Lakeside
Summer Camp
2003 was the third year in a row the MS traveled
to Pittsfield, MA to attend Lakeside Christian Camp. Complete with
a variety of skills classes to choose from, large camp activities
and two games you’ll love (Gau Gau and Carpet Ball) this week-long
camp is set on a beautiful lake in the Berkshire Mountains. With
a chapel right on the lake, evening service at sunset is quite a
sight, complete with the greatest new music that gets the kids moving!
Solid speakers and messages make this a time of faith and character
building that is anticipated all year long. Great cabins and good
food make the week away from home even more bearable.
Confirmation
We offer our confirmation class to students
starting in the 6th grade and up. This doesn’t mean the student
has to participate in the class in the 6th grade, but rather when
the student is ready to make that commitment at that age or any
age thereafter. Baptism is the commitment of the parents to raise
their baby in the church and to be responsible for teaching their
child about the Christian faith. Confirmation is the students’
turn to take responsibility for their own continued growth in the
Christian faith. In confirmation students learn about the church
and what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. It is a time
for them to make their own decision to have Christ be their LORD
and Savior. On Confirmation Sunday the students become members of
the church and make their commitments public of their decision to
follow Christ.
