| Little Ashlyn Submitted By: Nancy | I had asked prayer earlier for my friends babies, a young women I had mentored as a teenager. This is the most recent update and I know that there is power in prayer. So please join me in continued prayer for this baby and this young family. Ashlyn is a twin and Isabel is doing much better at this point. They where born in February, eleven weeks early. Ashlyn's Update It's hard to find the words to write this journal because it could turn out to be just another scare, but in respect to all of you who are praying for our girls or sending them positivity we want to share Ashlyn's latest news with you. As you know she's had a shunt put in to drain the excess fluid in the ventricles of her brain. Recently a neurologist has come on board to analyze her ultrasounds and came to talk to us today about what he's seen. Ashlyn's neurosurgeon believes her shunt is working properly, however her ventricles have not shrunken back down to the normal size to allow her brain matter to come back. Her neurologist told us that one option is that her shunt is not working to its full potential and there needs to be a revision. In this case we can likely expect delayed development, decreased mathematical abilities, etc. The other option is that she has hydrocephalus ex vacuo, which means that the trauma that occurred in her brain caused the tissue to actually shrink, or be damaged. In this case she would have severe brain damage and limited abilities. Believe it or not, this huge decision that can completely change her life expectancy can be decided off of one MRI, which she should have tomorrow. It's tough to share this news because of how it comes across. Both Nathan and I have discussed before that God may send us a child with more needs because we would love them unconditionally. Ashlyn is a fighter and a beautiful child no matter what diagnosis is given to her. And having the PRIVILEGE of working with many children "with disabilities" we know nothing can define her spirit. As parents we are just asking for prayers for the best possible outcome for our daughter. | 04-25-2012 |

| Pvt. TIm Donley Update - prayer need Submitted By: Debbie Doenias | -- Today Tim has surgery for 16 hours and 20 doctors!!! Please pray!!!!!! Miraculous update follows: From Tim\'s family: \"The plastic surgeon came by today to talk to Tim about the upcoming surgery on his arm on Friday. He explained that there is a major artery which comes from your upper arm and then branches into three blood vessels that supply blood flow to the lower arm and the hand. Usually they branch off at the elbow or just below the elbow in the forearm. However, God created Timothy differently. His branches off above the elbow around his bicep. Because it branched off up high, he still has healthy blood flow to his forearm and hand. The doctor said that if he had been like most people and it had branched off lower, he would had to have had his arm amputated, because the part of Tim\'s arm that was damaged is the part where the branching would normally be. Truly a miracle!!! God is good, all the time! | 03-13-2012 |
| PFC Tim Donley-18 yrs old-IED victim Submitted By: Debbie Doenias | This prayer request came from my friend Denise. Their dear friend Tim was just blown-up by an IED in Afghanistan. What follows are their prayer needs, written by Tim's mother, a missionary in the Middle East: "We want to send our heartfelt thanks to all who have posted and prayed and helped. We are so thankful for the Body of Christ, for friends and family who care and love. We feel…rather crushed by the weight of this, but recognize God's good and sovereign hand at work in the midst. We assume that most all of you have now heard that Timothy was the victim of an IED yesterday morning and has lost his lower legs as a result. We are so very thankful that Timothy's alive. We are so very thankful that he is defined by far more than a set of legs. He really is one of the bravest and most loving of people and has SO much to offer the Lord and the world. We want to give you all an update to help you to pray. He is presently unconscious in Afghanistan at a large field hospital. Gregg spoke with his surgeon who said that he cried when they brought Tim in. Tim's right arm is also quite badly wounded. My understanding is that his forearm was badly fractured in the explosion. They say he has good blood flow and all the nerves seem to be intact. They operated on it and placed a bone growth stimulator in the arm in an effort to get the pieces to knit together. If they knit, he will have some use of the hand; they can't say how much at this point. If they do not knit, the arm will also have to be amputated from the elbow. They will probably move him today to a larger hospital in Afg. and then are hoping that he'll be stable enough to fly to Germany on Sunday or Monday. At that point, they will take him off the ventilator and bring him back to consciousness and he will find out what has happened (assuming that he does not yet know). They would like us to be with him when that happens. We understand that he will only remain in Germany for a few days until they feel he is stable enough to fly to the States. He will then be rehabilitated at the new Walter Reid Hospital (Bethesda) in MD. We are praying for: A strength of spirit that only God can give. Fellowship with the Lord himself while he is unconscious. Preparation of his heart for this difficult news. Wisdom and compassion for every medical person that crosses his path. A powerful knitting and growth of his right ulna and renewed use of his right hand. COMFORT for him, his girlfriend, his brothers, his family, friends and us. I think that's all for now. PLEASE PRAY for Timothy." | 02-12-2012 |
