Prayer Team
Prayer Team Ministry is made up of members
of the church who have fulfilled specific training requirements.
In addition to either completing the levels of Healing Ministry
Training and or the Soaking Prayer School, they were personally
recommended by the Prayer Team Ministry Leader and approved
by the Senior Pastor.
The NLCC takes great care in assuring a safe place to worship,
including nurturing the integrity and reputation that a person
who seeks prayer can have absolute confidence in the prayer
procedures followed.
The Prayer Team Ministry specializes in three areas of prayer:
(1) Intercessory Prayer, (2) Altar prayer and (3) Soaking
Prayer.
The Basic requirements for Prayer Team Ministers are:
- Must be born again
- Must be baptized
- Have to attend worship service regularly
and be under the spiritual authority of church leadership
- Demonstrate
ongoing spiritual growth
- Witnesses living a Christian lifestyle
- Possess a teachable
spirit
- Senses a call by God to the Prayer Team Ministry
- Recommended
by the Prayer Team Leader and approved by the Senior
Pastor
The “spiritual ministry” of praying for those
who come for prayer has a very practical side to it. What
we do with our hands and voices, our observation of what
God may be doing in the lives of the people for whom we pray—as
we pray—all matters. This is particularly true since
we are in a worship setting. There are very specific guidelines
Prayer Team ministers are to follow. These guidelines are
intended to help our church provide a safe, caring environment
for those seeking prayer and these guidelines are available
upon request for anyone to view.
News
New Fairfield
UMC's 20+ member Prayer Team ministry is excited and eager
to pray for you. There have been amazing things happening
during prayer time on Sunday, Wednesday night, and during
Soaking Prayer. People are getting healed; doctors are
confounded! We are seeing what doctors call "suspicious" lumps
and nodules miraculously disappear upon further testing.
We are seeing backs and ligaments healed by the mighty
hand of God and we are excited! Praise God for what He
is doing for his children.
If you need prayer, or just want
the peace that only Jesus Christ can give you, don't be
shy; we want to pray for you. Look for Prayer Team members…they
are easily recognized by their peach-colored nametags.
The Prayer Team meets on the last Sunday of each month.
For its members, it is a time of renewal and refreshing and
learning, and of course, lots of prayer for the church, nation,
community and each other.
Soaking Prayer
Soaking prayer is about
resting in God’s presence. In our busy culture it appears
to be almost impossible to find such a time and place of rest.
Soaking prayer time will provide you with such a place. Our
Soaking Prayer takes place in our Prayer Room, where you will
be offered space to either comfortably sit or lie down in a
safe and monitored environment with peaceful sacred music playing
in the background. As the Holy Spirit ministers to you—our
trained Soaking Prayer ministers will quietly pray over you
without disturbing you. You may pray quietly or say nothing
at all and just rest and listen for God’s whisper. It
is a time to break away from the fast lane and turn over your
concerns and cares to Him, so as to be refilled, reenergized,
encouraged and strengthened. You do not have to strive, work,
perform… just come for a time of rest. As Psalm 46:10
says: "Be still, and know that I am God."
Soaking
Prayer is every Tuesday evening from 7:00-9:00 pm in our Prayer
Room. We believe that you will experience the presence of God
in a new way. You will draw close into a deeper intimacy with
our Lord. One thing we are certain of…He desires that
intimacy with us. Come and be blessed. Stay for ten minutes,
a half an hour or for the entire 2 hours. You will not leave
disappointed. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity
to rest in His presence and be changed. For more information
please call the office (203)746-3725.
Prayer Chain
We have an active prayer chain ministry in our church. If you have a prayer request please e-mail Candy Wheeler at nlccprayerchain@aol.com or call her at 845-227-1881, and she will send our your request to our active prayer chain members and your concern will be lifted up in prayer by many.
